Double Coupon Day at Ridley's Market!

For those of you who don't know.. the majority of stores outside of Utah will double coupons. Double coupon days are when the face value of a coupon under a dollar will double up to a dollar.

For example: 25 cents off = 50 cents off

35 = 70 cents off

40 = 80 cents off

50 cents = $1.00 off!

And 75 will equal $1.00, because that is the cap..

If you "like" Ridley's Family Market on Facebook they will post when there double coupon days are.
Orem Ridley's consistently has Double Coupon Tuesday.

Some surrounding Walmarts will "Match" this on Tuesday. But if you live in Davis or Weber County they don't make it easy for you.

And of course, Walmart is as raunchy as they can possibly be about this. You'll have to double check that the Walmart will match and then probably get a customer service manager to help your cashier out.

Freebies2deals.com is my FAVORITE website now days! She suggests printing off the NEW coupon policy, and the Price Matching policy from their corporate website. Put them in your purse or coupon binder and then you can whip it out and show them THEIR rules! haha
(Double Couponing is done only at the Manager's discretion so this will not be on the Policy)

Make sure you are following the rules and stick to what you deserve!

Anyways, I saved $78.05 on my purchase at Ridley's. I drove to Tremonton on Thursday the 21st. Even though this is Idaho we are talking about, it is not a bad drive. Freeway the whole way only 35-40 minutes from my house.

We got there just after they opened. The Assistant Manager helped me get an Advantage card and confirmed that it was a double coupon day. I was practically the only shopper at the store. It really worked out for us because I could take my time looking at prices and deciding if they would be a good deal.

Downside, Ridley's is a small market and they don't carry everything. If it's not on sale it is way more than you would spend at Walmart. I found things doubled or tripled in price!

I had Kevin call Brigham City Walmart to see if they would match the doubling. No :( they won't. I currently have about a two inch stack of coupons I wanted to double yesterday.

Just look at the stuff I was able to get!

 These are my FOOD items:
2 bags of chips, 2 boxes of popcorn, 2 bottles of powerade zero, 4 small tubs of bestlife (very healthy) butter, 1 bottle of parkay squeezable butter, 1 box of whole grain rice, 2 packages of keebler ready crust, 4 cresent rolls packages, 2 cinnamon roll packages, 2 lbs of brown sugar, 2 boxes of quick cook pasta, 2 boxes of gushers, 1 box of fruit roll-ups, a box of fruit by the foot and a dozen eggs (not pictured)

I got the following cleaning/personal care items: 2 laundry stain sticks, 1 bottle of hand soap, 2 clorox bleach bottles, 1 windex multi-surface spray, 2 skintimate shave gels, 1 johnsons baby wash, 1 mens body wash, 2 tubs of scotts natural flushable wipes, 1 dove deodrant, 2 glade carpet and room powder, 2 comet bleach powders, 2 colgate kids toothpaste,1 sunsations liquid soap, and 2 packages of halls cough drops.

What I have been up to...

We've been running out of freezer space lately. (We have on average 5-6 different types of ice cream on hand) I was looking into getting a freezer chest but I really don't have a place for it. The thought came to me to just get a new fridge/freezer. When we moved in we got an old, small original fridge/freezer we bought from family.

It was so exciting to get something newer for ourselves!

We found this side by side for $200! A lady was selling it because it was to big for her house. She agreed on $180 and since she was a smoker I wouldn't want to pay very much more than that.

We spent the weekend scrubing, bleaching, and sanitizing. Everything came off except for a few places missing paint. Good as NEW!!
I can't believe side by sides are so cheap now! A lot of people are getting rid of them to get stainless steal.

Love my new fridge!

We are also donating our old fridge to Rocky Mountain and getting 30 dollars back!

And so Couponing begins... My new Hobby!

I have been an going after great deals for the past 8 months or so. After buying our own home and being on our own, I've been trying to save every cent where I can. Even if it means price matching that only saves 2 cents here and there. I don't see any point in paying more than I need to.

I started buying a couple extra items when they were a good price. I packed up at case lot sales. And on a usual Walmart trip I price match from 4 or 5 stores.

I have very strong negative feeling towards Walmart. I hate their new obsession of "Saving people Money." From experience about 70% of cashiers hate ad matching.
(Either because they lack the know-how or they are just extremely LAZY)

Usually you have a 50/50 chance of getting a cashier that can just ring your items through without a problem. It usually takes luck to get a good one!
Extreme Couponing, reccommends: Young, Easy going, MALEs haha

All you need is someone who is friendly, and knows how to do their job :)

I've only had ONE cashier actually throw a fit, complain very loudly, and tell me I can't do that, I can't do that....
And she was WRONG. Another cashier told her they could match it. The manager told her to do it.

And I've only had TWO cashiers that were totally surprised, impressed,
and even asked me where I found that good of a deal.

It is such a PAIN to save money at Walmart. BUT I can buy several items at the LOWEST price in one store. (That is if Walmart carrys it and stocks their shelves) But that is another issue itself!

I've been watching the NEW popular TLC show "Extreme Couponing" I love it. I'm addicted, but it is frustrating because in Utah "Double Couponing" is hard to come by.
LAME, makes me want to move to another state!

I may not be able to get over a thousand dollars of groceries for free,
but I'll be hunting for the best deals I can get!

As a beginner, Online you can print coupons for $1 off toothpaste (including trial and travel size) dental floss, and Purex wipes. There is also a coupon I found that will get you $1 off an Air Wick warmer. And guess what?? They are all not only FREE they are MONEYMAKERS!

I made .03 cents off of the floss, Purex, and toothpaste. And .06 cents from the Air Wick warmer.
After tax I paid .02 cents for these 4 items! Defineately the least amount I've ever spent at Walmart.
Smiths was doing a promotion for cereal. If you buy 4 boxes of cereal you get a $5.00 Smith's gift card. I decided that since I usually price match my eggs and milk from them, I would defineately use it in the future.

On top of that I used (4) 75cents off coupons making them just 50 cents a box taking in the $5.00 card bonus. My total came to $10.27, including tax and coupons. Turns out that not all of the cereals that qualify for the card are on sale. After figuring that out I decided to return them, and the Customer Service lady offered me another $5.00. So I made my purchase of 10.27, and recieved $10.00.

I paid 27 cents for 4 boxes of cereal! Only .06 cents per box!! Turned out quite nicely, on accident :)

Priced at over 2.50 at Walmart, I found these at Target for $1.97. I used two coupons that were Buy 2 Get 1 FREE. I bought 4 and got 2 FREE! Making them $1.31 each!! These are Yummy and I love that they don't have Aspartame (artificial sweetener) in them like regular Crystal Light.

Last Fall I got Stove Top on sale for 75 cents a box.
These were 99 cents, with two 50 cent off coupons I got them for 49 cents each!

Parchment Paper was priced at Walmart for $2.84. Target had Parchment Paper and Foil on sale for $2.50. I had two coupons for $1.50 off two. (75 cents off each) Making them $1.75 each!!

So excited to make some cookies with these!

On sale for 97 cents. I got them for 47 cents each.
It could have been as low as 22 cents if I had a different coupon.

I used a $1.50 off coupon on one. I had two 75 cent off coupons for the bottom two. They were priced at 2.62 at Walmart, Target had them for 2.49 making them $1.74 each. Not to bad :)

Saturday, April 16th I went with my friend, Kaylie. We picked up a bottle of lotion for FREE.
 No purchase neccessary!

Money Maker of .03 cents on more toothpaste and floss.

Free double Air Wick warmer with the purchase of a refill scent.

(Which I needed to buy since I have three FREE warmers now.)
I also had a dollar off coupon on the refills to make it cheaper.

And the razors were 2.88 and I had a coupon for $3.00 off. 12 cent Money Maker!

Goldenwest 5K!

Kevin and I decided to participate in a 5K, all the money was donated to schools in South Ogden.
It turned out really well. I finished in 36 minutes!

I caught a cold just a week before the run and I really lacked the conditioning I wanted. It was so much more work than I thought it would be.
I thought I was going to die!

I really do love my husband!
He hung back and helped push me along when it was getting rough.

I'm SO glad we did this! It felt so good to burn all those calories!

Beehive Beauties Pageant

Our day started bright and early! Kaylee got a bath, got all lathered up with lotion.
and her hair done while she ate breakfast.

We got to Weber State and as soon as we walked in she got everyone's attention.
Our cute little girl was cute even with her curlers still in!
Kaylee was contestant number 205. She was the 5th of 7 girls in the 12-23 month age group. It was so exciting to hear all the compliments she got as we were waiting for the pageant to start.
Kaylee all dressed and ready to go!
Kaylee won "Sweetest Photo" this is the picture we entered..
I'm so proud of her! She did an amazing job waving and blowing kisses.
I just smiled as I took pictures and heard the crowd talk about how cute she was!
We were pretty fired up with the results. She did win two awards but she did not place.
I did want to cry on the way home, Kevin and I were just surprised and confused.
Out of 7 girls she couldn't win 3rd?

I think a lot of the audience was shocked too. I guess that is what we had coming for being so confident. After seeing the other contestants I was pretty sure we had it in the bag. Darn PRIDE! Of course her Grandmas and Grandpas thought she was the cutest.
I'll have to post some better pictures when I get them from the Grandparents.

We learned from this experience that we don't have to spend money to try to get a few unexperienced judges' approval. Overall the pageant was a TON of fun! And I can't promise I won't try it again.

To top the day off... Kaylee and I went grocery shopping and we had non stop compliments. Seriously we broke a record for how many people came up to us. It was funny watching a couple different husbands nudge their wives "Look at how cute she is" as they made funny faces to get her to laugh.

To bad she was a loser of the Cutest Baby Contest...
We love her through and through and to me she will always be the most beautiful girl in the world!
